-and in other news, Government officials have continued to remain tight lipped and skeptical of the new Russian regime since it's trade stance declaration last month, refusing offers of trade as long as Russia continues to seal it's borders to all but diplomatic envoys. Details about the new Russian government, which broke it's long and mysterious year long silence several months ago during a military coupe, have continued to elude diplomatic officials as well as news anchors. Despite released videos of Russian citizens assuring foreign relatives that all is well, many continue to question the motives and morals of the new government, questioning it's open attitude towards trade as it has been elusive and misleading in talks with world government leaders. Earlier this week in an emergency U.N. session, the Russian government flatly refused access to U.N. officials who demanded that the Russian leaders allow Peace Corp forces to cross the border to ascertain the situation for themselves. Calina Tetov, the Russian Representative, also refused to answer any questions about the so called "plague" that was reported by some Russian news agencies when the old government closed its borders off, simply saying that "Russia has dealt with the problem, and we are once again a strong nation of one mind."

Good evening viewers. Our top story tonight, the deployment of a new weapons system by the Scorpion Traders Union was confirmed today as the latest Runic attack on Southern Sudan met with heavy Scorpion resistance. Although the Traders Union has refused to comment on the nature of the weapon, it appears to be some new form of optical camouflage. Satellite footage obtained of the event clearly shows a large contingent of Runic ground armor moving right through the middle of a Scorpion anti-armor contingent, yet moments later being completely caught off guard when the Scorpion contingent opened fire from what was in some cases a few feet away. The NAA military has unfortunately declined to comment on the event, however one of channel 7Ns own news crews was on the scene in southern Sudan and was able to interview a local man who claimed to have seen the system in action during a test several weeks ago. Thomas Macy made the following interview.
"So, you say that you saw this tank vanish with your own eyes?"
"Yes. It was maybe two months ago, and I told my family about it but I did not think too much about it. We try to just stay out of the armies way.
"How did you see the event then?"
"I believe it was some sort of uh...test of some kind. They had men who did not look like soldiers and cameras all around."
"How did you end up seeing it?"
"I was out walking, to clear wake myself up in the morning. They were performing this test, or whatever it was, in an old logging area that I like to walk through."
"Did they see you?"
"No. I did not want them to see me, so I was not seen."
"So what did this test, if that's what it was, look like?"
"It looked like the air was rippling around the tank, and then it faded from view. It was like a....what is the word, ah! Mirage. Yes, a mirage in the desert."
"So it wasn't actually there?"
"Well, yes and no. It was like it was not there, but that was the mirage, see? It was....the reverse of a mirage. It looked like it was not there, but I knew that it was."
"Well, how do you know that it wasn't a mirage."
"Because mirages don't shoot targets. When the tank came back, it was shooting at targets."
"When it came back?"
"Yes. There was a clear ripple when it fired and suddenly I could see the tank again. Like a blanket had been dropped."

As of 3 PM today, Moscow time, the Russian government has declared a nationwide sealing of borders and has closed itself off from the outside world. We are unsure as to the reason for this sudden and unexpected movement, and would like to say for the record that at this time we are not aware of any indication of a terrorist strike, environmental disaster, or biological outbreak of any kind. The Russian government has assured us that all non-Russian's will be escorted to their local embassy for the duration of the alert and that our citizens will have the ability to return home should they desire. Unfortunately at this time we have not received any other information on the nature of the alert, although the Russian government has asked that we please patiently wait a few weeks, at which time they will open the borders once more. We would ask citizens to refrain from jumping to conclusions and to treat this simply as a temporary occurrence.

Although some details about the Caperica are still classified by the NAA, what we do know is that it is intended to be a full replacement for the aging Ford class of carriers. Although the Caperica class carries less aircraft, the reorientation of combat doctrine in recent years has caused it to be much more heavily armored and capable of sustaining heavier enemy action than any previous carrier. In addition, the Caperica actually contains onboard production facilities capable of assembling aircraft in a combat zone for immediate deployment, something that will give it an immediate advantage in a combat situation.
With concerns of a worldwide conflagration of war at an all time high, NAA command has already put in a staggering order for no less then twenty-six Caperica class Carriers within the next year, and a full hundred and fourteen are expected to be in service within the next three years. This process however may be accelerated by the decommission and scrapping of both the Ford and Nimitz line of carriers. According to NAA officials, the improved construction design of the Caperica class combined with the scrap yielded by salvaging the Nimitz and Ford classes should easily allow them to meet their goal of no less then a staggering three hundred Caperica carriers within five years.
When asked by journalist about the leaked Pentagon documents concerning a supposed class of Super-Carrier called Sagittarius, neither President Highman nor NAA military officials had any comment.

Dear Mom,
I know it's been awhile since I e-mailed the family but I'm alright...we've been under constant jamming for weeks now and the only thing that makes it in and out is the supply convoys. I'll have to bribe a non-com with a few bucks in order to get him to pass this on the regular mail, I hope it makes it and the censors don't cut anything important.
Given my last letter and the news you can probably guess where I'm at, even if I'm not allowed to write it out loud. All I can say is that I'm still in Egypt, and the fighting has been terrible. Three days after my last e-mail, they pulled my unit out and shipped us to --------- ----------- ------- --------. Since then we haven't slept in the same spot twice. Every day it's a different part of the city, and every night it's another bombed out building or ruined apartment complex. -------- was almost completely evacuated before the wave of Runic soldiers invaded, but not everyone got out. We're still finding pockets of civilians or refugees from when the Runic push took the lower half of the country. Sometimes they're healthy enough that we can get them to the convoys and get them out of the city. Sometimes, the Runic get to them first and then all we find is the ---------.
I'm not going to lie, I wish I was home with you, Dad and Mack every day. I wish I could see Amy have her third birthday, that I could hold her in my arms and never let her go and leave all of this behind. But I can't, because I've seen what the Runic do to children. Every time I start wishing that I could just leave this city behind and quit, I think of her and what the Runic will do if they get their hands on her or any other man, woman or child that gets in their way. I can't quit, not after what I've seen.
Sorry about the break, the Runic brought in an airstrike on the whole block and we had to clear out until command scrambled a few Typhoons to clear air for us. Its probably for the better I took leave of this letter where I did, it's hard sometimes to think of home after all I've seen here. With the city being so tight together, both sides are using a lot of infantry squadrons for urban combat. It makes sense, but the Runic don't take to it lightly. They've got these choppers, Purifiers I think they're called, that're armed with flamethrowers. Between the fire and the forcefields they can drop right in on an infantry squadron's hidey-hole and clear to whole building in a single burst. Being a Black Fox unit we don't usually have any effective weaponry to fight back and since they've been jamming our comms, we've taken to using pulse beacons to mark aerial attacks. It's probably more expensive then anyone really likes, but its the only way to get a signal to the Typhoons.
I'll write again as soon as I can. Tell Amy that I love her and let her know that her Mommy misses her very, very much. I love you Mom.
